For a non-refundable $85 fee (payable by money order, credit card, or a certified check) you can enroll in TSA PreCheck for five years.
TSA PreCheck is the expedited screening program that allows low-risk passengers to use a fast-tracked security line. In order to apply, you must be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or a lawful permanent resident. The application process includes an in-person interview and background check.
So what do your $85 and fingerprints get you? You can breeze through a designated line at airport security—without removing your shoes or belt, or taking your laptop and liquids out of your bag.

In May, a handful of new airlines joined the program. Now, passengers traveling with Aeromexico, Cape Air, and Etihad can take advantage of TSA PreCheck. By the fall, domestic budget carriers Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines will participate as well.
That means if you’re taking a domestic or international flight with any of the TSA PreCheck-compliant airlines (there are currently 16) at an equipped airport (160 and counting), you can say farewell to enduring endless security lines.
