Miley Cyrus just released the video for “Younger Now,” and yes, she’s singing to a puppet

Earlier this month, we were so excited when Miley Cyrus announced she’d be releasing her new album next month, and now we’ve got the music video for the album’s title track “Younger Now” — and it’s definitely a must-watch.

“Younger Now” is the second single from the record, with the first being her country-tinged summer hit “Malibu,” but instead of an ode to her love Liam Hemsworth, “Younger Now” and its video are all about Ms. Miley herself.

In the video, Miley can be seen waking up and reflecting on who she “used to be,” leading a parade in a hot pink ballgown and strumming a guitar. Perhaps it’s a nod to feeling like her life as a pop star and having all eyes on her — even when it wasn’t necessarily who she was.

Miley can later be seen singing to a puppet, perhaps a subtle hint that she has felt like a puppet during various stages of her career (visions of *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye,” anyone?). She then dons a slew of incredible vintage outfits, channeling Elvis Presley and her godmother, Dolly Parton while hanging out with a crew of carnival folks.

She then free falls while singing “what goes up must come down,” and it’s clear she’s all about the reinvention of Miley, crooning “change is a thing you can count on” at a ’50s-inspired sock hop dance.
