“I’m just trying to find my boyfriend and get a drink,” said Miley Cyrus  navigating the masses at last night’s W magazine “Shooting Stars” exhibition opening. Not surprisingly for someone who catalogs her life and art on Instagram, throngs of selfie-seekers were throwing their phones in her face at every conceivable turn. (To her credit she was happy to oblige.) The pop star, known for strutting around in nothing but tights and pasties, upgraded her look for the evening in a white jumpsuit by Balmain that channeled Elvis.

Also attending the pre-Golden Globes fete, which celebrated the marriage of art and fashion with many of the magazine’s iconic covers on display, was designer Jason Wu whose label, Hugo Boss, sponsored the affair. This being an awards-show weekend, we asked him about how one should carry themselves on the red carpet. “I always think that authenticity really comes through,” he said. “When a girl feels great in a dress and she wants to wear it, she always looks great.” As for his red carpet predictions? “It’s a Jason Wu moment,” he said with a Cheshire Cat grin before trailing off.

Actress Rose McGowan, however, was more vocal about the awards show hullabaloo. “There is a lot of pressure and it’s really stupid,” she said, looking like an adorable pixie in a black and white Vionnet tunic with cropped pants. “It’s a stupid amount of pressure for something stupid, basically. Let’s be real. There’s a lot of real stuff going on in the world. But I do love artists being recognized for their work and their talent so that part’s great. The rest of it, as long as you keep a perspective of its importance on the grand scheme of things then you’ll be okay.”

Come back to see what the stars wear to the Golden Globes! We’ll be covering the red carpet, the ceremony, and the post-show festivities. It all kicks off on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. Stay tuned for our live-stream coverage after the show!
