Michelle Obama Dazzles in Rose Gold Gown at Final State Dinner

Michelle Obama is going out with a bang — sartorially speaking, that is. During the final state dinner hosted by the Obama White House for Italy, the first lady dazzled in a firework of a dress. Custom made for her by Atelier Versace, the rose gold gown’s made entirely of chain mail and features an off-the-shoulder strap as well as bodice ruching and flattering draping.

“I am humbled and honored to have had the opportunity to dress the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama,” Italian designer Donatella Versace wrote on Instagram. “Thank you, Michelle, for all the things you have done for America and for the world, and especially, for empowering and inspiring women everywhere.”

The Versace gown isn’t the only amazing gown FLOTUS has worn to host state dinners in Washington, DC. Throughout the nearly eight years she’s been in the White House, the Obamas have hosted 13 events for foreign dignitaries, with the first lady making a fashion statement at every single one.
