Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spent the last three weeks in Africa, where they celebrated their one-year anniversary and Markle’s 36th birthday. Two sources told Us Weekly earlier this month that Harry was planning on proposing on their sojourn - and whether or not that happened isn’t clear today, at least. The couple is back in London, both E! and LaineyGossip report, as they were seen together this morning headed back into the city on the Heathrow Express. A source told E! that there was no ring was on Markle’s finger though she was "smiley and giddy looking" as they sat across from each other.

LaineyGossip has this lovely report from a friend who was in the same train car:

They seemed super cute, on their phones the whole time, but looking up at each other and smiling often because it was obviously that they were actually texting each other. For those of you who need the extra, extra details, they were both in jeans, she was wearing a white button down shirt open over a tank or a black tee and he looked to be in a grey Henley and they were both wearing baseball caps and carried dufflebags. There were a few casually dressed security with them.

Markle isn’t currently filming Suits, E! notes, so she’ll reportedly be staying in London with Harry for a little longer - and likely through this Thursday, the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.

A second source told the outlet that the two were planning to visit Birkhall this weekend with Harry's dad, Prince Charles. A meeting with Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral is possible, too, before Markle leaves for Toronto.

People reports that the two ended their African trip, by the way, with a visit to Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. They stayed several days in Livingstone, Zambia, in a safari lodge close to the falls. The visit, like the one to Botswana before, was very private. Officials plus local hotel and safari staff were "sworn to secrecy," according to the outlet. People’s source couldn’t confirm local reports circulating that the two took a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls.

Still, the absence of a ring on Markle's finger today doesn't necessarily rule out an African proposal. A source told Us Weekly before that the prince was never planning on immediately announcing it (and the Palace generally has tight protocol on how to unveil news publicly). "Harry said he would want to enjoy the news between the two of them before word starts spreading out."
