Meet the Parisian Powersuit: When the Boardroom & Couture Collide

Perhaps it’s a French rebellion of the nearly naked looks from Hollywood as of late (refer to the entire 2015 awards show season or Kim Kardashian’s weekly attempts at out-nuding herself ). Or maybe enough designers have embraced menswear for women in recent seasons, that the phenomenon is inevitable. Whatever the reason, attendees of Paris Fashion Week made a very strong argument for the new powersuit. The ensemble requires slouched or oversized slacks with a jacket or blazer in a matching shade. The intentional loose fit, harkening that of a skinny ska band leader, is given credibility by bold colors or an interesting cut. The look that confidently states “I’m wearing a suit that does not fit - on purpose” is a power play for today’s woman.
