Maybe Skip the Sparklers? Bride’s Dress Catches on Fire While Walking Down the Aisle
You might say this wedding went up in flames.
A woman in China got the shock of her life when her dress caught fire as she walked down the aisle.
Her wedding planner had placed a series of fireworks along the aisle edge, but hadn’t accounted for the width of her dress.
The bride, Xu, said she didn’t realize her gown was on fire until it was too late; she thought the smoke was atmospheric, at first. “Then I felt heat on my leg and it felt painful, I realized it was fire,” she said.
Startled guests jumped out of their seats to help her out by pouring red wine (don’t do this!) and water over the gown, but Xu ultimately had to be taken to the hospital, where she was treated for second-degree burns.
The couple is currently in the process of suing their wedding planner.
No fireworks. No sparklers. Nope.
