Please tell us you saw Mandy Moore’s glorious curls the other night! America’s sweetheart showed up to the launch of HearstLive at Hearst Tower, as well as her interview at Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, rocking the cutest perm we’ve ever seen!
When was the last time you saw such a gorgeous, curly halo on a red carpet? It’s been a minute!
It takes some serious guts to change your hair so drastically, but it’s clearly worth the risk in Mandy’s case. Her stylist, Ted Gibson, spilled the beans to PeopleStyle on the inspiration for the daring look.
They wanted to create a romantic look that channeled two very important Jennifers from the 1980s: Jennifer Beals in Flashdance and Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing.
“There’s all this kind of hair during that period that’s really kind of timely right now,” Gibson said.
He also let it slip that Mandy was hesitant about the new look at first.

“When I brought this look up to her, she was like, ‘okay!’ but then she got a little nervous because she’s never had her hair like that before. But I said, ‘You have to trust me, says Gibson, adding, “at the end of the night, I [thanked her] for trusting me, because we took a risk. It’s not a beach wave, and people are either going to love it or hate it.’”
Well, we just can’t get over how amazing the This Is Us star looks!
They really nailed this throwback hairdo without looking costume-y or dated. It’s a fresh, updated version of that classic ’80s perm look that all our moms tried in vain to rock.
You better believe we’ll be spending some serious time with our curling irons this weekend in an attempt to recreate this incredible look. I mean, look how pleased she looks!
