Krysten Ritter just spilled details on Jessica Jones’ relationship with Daredevil, and we’re feeling a ‘ship launch
There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the newest Marvel series on Netflix, and The Defenders just keeps getting more intriguing. Although release isn’t slated until summer, we’re getting our hopes up for juicy storylines, reluctant romances, and fighting for the justice. You know… lots and lots of superhero stuff. Now, after Krysten Ritter spoke to Entertainment Weekly , we might have a preview of our first bout of ‘shipping, and it’s not who you think it is.

Ritter told EW that those first few episodes are Jessica Jones/Daredevil heavy:
“…their characters will share a ‘cat-and-mouse’ dynamic.” But who’s who in this dynamic is still up in the air. “It switches back and forth, to be honest,” she says. “No one’s best friends in all of the Defenders. This is a reluctant team-up.”
(Although they don’t look too reluctant in this behind the scenes snap. They look like a super happy bunch of buds.)

The last we saw of Jessica Jones, she had dispensed with her archenemy/abuser, Kilgrave, and was going reluctantly public. Ritter suggests that Jessica struggles with this new normal, saying, “She’s still dealing with the aftermath of Kilgrave, and now she’s dealing with ‘success’ — and not well.”
Ritter goes on to explain,“People want her to work for them, she’s getting a lot of business, and she’s not ready for any of that. She hasn’t changed, but her environment has, and there’s no handbook for how to exist in a world where you are now popular.”

It will be very interesting to see how Jessica Jones becomes a team player while juggling a new sense of “success.” But we seriously can’t wait to see how Matt Murdock factors into her new life. Whether they get romantic or just become friends, we’re sure the mutual snarking will be off the charts.
