Kris Jenner "Engineered" Kim's Sex Tape Leak, New Book Claims

Oh boy.

From Cosmopolitan

Nearly a decade after Vivid Entertainment's release of Kim Kardashian and Ray J's notorious sex tape, Page Six reports that a new book on the Kardashian family claims Kris Jenner was the one who orchestrated the leak of Kim K Superstar. In Kardashian Dynasty by Ian Halperin (whose most recent title was last year's Whitney and Bobbi Kristina), an "adult film industry" source reveals that a mutual friend of Kim and then-BFF Paris Hilton advised her that a sex tape would lead her to fame and that Kim had "discussed the idea of producing a tape with her family beforehand."

According to a former Kim pal, Kris "engineered the deal behind the scenes and was responsible for the tape seeing the light of day." Halperin also spoke to a Vivid rep after posing as a porn peddler selling another celebrity sex tape. Kim's tape came up. "A third party brought it to Vivid," the rep confirms in the book. "[We] got in touch with the Kardashian family." After suggesting that the tape "would leak anyway," the company advised Kim to leave her tape in their hands. "So why not work for us, and we'll make sure that it will not only get out, but that it will be distributed the way you want," the rep reportedly told Halperin. Kim would later file a lawsuit against Vivid and settle for a reported $5 million. "It is clear that Vivid would not have announced plans to distribute Kim's tape without a clear indication from the family that they would give the go-ahead once they had come to terms on a price," Halperin writes in his book.

A rep for Kim has since told Page Six that "all the assertions are false."
