“New year, new you,” that’s how the saying goes, and that’s certainly how it goes for Kim Kardashian, who tweeted on Monday night “Up all night redoing my whole wardrobe with Kanye. I’m so ready for new looks for the New Year! New 2015 Vision.”

But before she steps into the future, she made sure to let us know of her favorite look from the past. “This Givenchy look could possibly be my favorite look of 2014,” Kim also tweeted. She included a split photo of the black bodysuit with sheer lace trousers that she wore it to her friend (and Givenchy designer) Riccardo Tisci’s show during Paris Fashion Week. Fashion editors who attended the show nodded with approval at her ensemble, especially with a leather jacket thrown over her shoulders for the ultimate ooh-la-la effect. (She even dressed baby Nori in a similar outfit, so you know she was feeling her look.) Could this be a hint as to what direction she is heading to in the next year?

It must be said that Kardashian’s worked hard this year to get the blessing of the fashion community. Both her and Kanye are currently fronting the Balmain men’s campaign and she has now has power-editors like Carine Roitfeld and Katie Grand on speed dial. Miuccia Prada is not someone who lends her name to projects very freely, and yet Kim scored a total coup when she created a custom look for her for the cover of Grand’s Love magazine.

It’s funny to think that when most people consider to switch things up in the style department they opt for a new hairstyle or maybe getting a pair of flared jeans, but Kim and Kanye are certainly not part of the hoi polloi. We can only imagine what it must be like to develop new looks alongside West and are envisioning giant color printouts of runway looks taped to the walls for inspiration. A Vfiles board come to life, magnified times ten.

Women who change themselves according to who they’re dating are generally not seen in a positive light, but there is something deeper than that going on in the relationship between her and West. It’s evident that he has a more refined taste level. (We only need to look at pictures of Kardashian from her Pre-Kanye days for proof of that!) By this example, it seems smart of her to trust him with her sartorial decisions. A lot of Kardashian’s newfound support from the fashion industry came after Kanye’s initial makeover, when he told her “wear turtlenecks all the time, stick to a palette of white, black, and camel, and meet my friends Riccardo Tisci and Oliver Rousteing,” or something along those lines. But after those initial directives, it was Kardashian’s personality who won over everyone else. She’s clearly having so much fun with fashion and in that industry where everyone is constantly taking themselves too seriously, that really stands out. Who else would take selfies in their closet while trying to figure out what to wear, only to be upstaged by their baby playing dress-up too?
