Kim Kardashian Contemplates the Future in a Letter to Herself
Kim Kardashian is on the cover of Glamour magazine this month, and they asked the entrepreneur, author, model, mother of North West, to write a letter to her future self. A digital time capsule to be opened 10 years from now.
“Dear Kim, when you read this, you’ll be ten years older, in the year 2025. This is where I hope you will be,” begins her capsule entry. While Kardashian agilely types on her laptop — and is that a marble cover? — her voice narrates the things she hopes that she and her sisters will be doing in the next decade.
To herself, Kim takes a trip down memory lane, and gives advice: “Remember to be kind to yourself and enjoy how you look now because you’re not getting any younger.” She also hopes she will still be the Queen of Contouring, wonders if she will still be “on fleek,” (and whether or not “on fleek” will still be a thing), and hopes scientists invent a magical green juice that naturally keeps her skin tanned.
About Nori, who will be 12 by then, she tells future Mrs. West to “remember that preteens are going through a lot, junior high is tough, so remember to have a lot of patience.” Which is great guidance! As for unborn baby number two, it does not figure into her future at this point in time, but we’re sure being patient with him/her would also be good counsel.
Kardashian then generously thinks of things she wants for her family, although neither her brother Rob, husband Kanye West, or ex-stepfather Caitlyn Jenner are mentioned. She hopes Kourtney will be done having babies, and she hopes that Khloe meets a great man and falls deeply in love (sorry Lamar, Kim is not here for you!). She hopes Kendall is still modeling, and she hopes Kylie is… “doing whatever she wants, because she’s not usually one to take direction.” Like even Kim knows that Kylie’s future is looking, well, a little bleak. You can’t ride that Kendall connection forever, Kylie!
And after pondering if “selfies are still a thing,” and telling herself if she doesn’t have 100 billion followers on Instagram she’ll be “very disappointed,” she renames the untitled document “DON’T OPEN TIL 2015,” and then satisfied, pushes the “SHIFT” button, and closes the computer, staring happily into the future.
