Kevin Costner’s Stolen Pants, Plus More from the SAG Awards

If you were to rob Kevin Costner’s house, what would you take? Last night, on the red carpet at the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, the actor shared a curious story about one fan who broke into his house and took a pair of pants. What else were the stars talking about? From gossip to footsie, here’s what was happening off-screen.

Eddie Redmayne wishes people asked him better questions.

Yahoo Style: Do you have a lot of physicist fans now?

Eddie Redmayne: Not that I’m aware of. Although when we came to the LA premiere, there were some of [Stephen’s] old students from here, who are lovely to meet. Although whenever they go, “Hi, I’m a physicist. I used to work with Stephen,” it always puts the fear of God into me that I’ve done something wrong.

YS: Do they ask you anything unusual?

ER: No. Unfortunately not.

Anna Chlumsky on politicians and pooping.

Yahoo Style: How has your occasional proximity to real-life politicians affected how you feel about government?

Anna Chlumsky: I’m totally gentler. I’m certainly a lot gentler. I realize that everybody poops.

Orange is the New Black’s Dascha Polanco doesn’t get letters from prison.

Yahoo Style: Do you get fan mail from inmates?

Dascha Polanco: I have never gotten mail from inmates, no, but I’ve got them from all parts of the world, from Sweden to Mexico. And it’s impressive. It’s very emotional because I mean I used to have pen pals back in the day, but not from Sweden.

YS: Does it surprise you that your character would resonate with somebody millions of miles away?

DP: It does because you feel so tiny in that big world. And then when you play a character like this, that many people can relate to, it’s a big responsibility.

Julianne Moore loves to gossip.

Yahoo Style: Why did you decide on this dress?

Julianne Moore: Believe it or not, a while ago because it’s custom, it’s custom Givenchy couture. Riccardo offered to make me dresses for the Golden Globes and he sent us all these sketches. There was also this green one, and we said, “Well, we should make this for SAG.” And he did.

YS: What do you love about hanging out with a group of actors?

JM: The gossip [laughs].

Kevin Costner on that time someone stole his pants.

Yahoo Style: Do you ever get weird requests from fans?

Kevin Costner: No, but I did have somebody break into my house once. Somebody who basically came in and kind of robbed me. We weren’t home and I came back and there was a picture of me that they had found turned over. They wrote, “Kev, looks like you’re really doing good, but I’m really down on my luck. I just took a pair of pants. Good luck.” And so it was a really amazing thing to read because, “I’m just down on my luck. Looks like you’re doing good. I just took a pair of pants.” Weird, huh? But pretty thoughtful.

Yahoo Style: Well, you mentioned footsie, who’s the best person to play footsie with, or who’s like a little violent with their feet?

Pedro Pascal: I would say Kit Harington has the most delicate nudge.

Edward Norton’s always dreamed of a career like Emma Stone’s.

Yahoo Style: Emma, your career has really exploded. Was this always your childhood dream to have this sort of career?

Emma Stone: It was always my dream to act, absolutely. I mean, it’s a great gift to be in the company of people like this and to be at places like the SAG Awards and all of that. That’s not anything I ever really dreamed of. I’m just happy I get to be an actor, period.

Edward Norton: It was always my dream to have Emma’s career.

ES: No! No!

Viola Davis says women just want to see themselves on screen.

Yahoo Style: So you found yourself in this really interesting, diverse, female role. What could Hollywood tangibly do to encourage more of these types of female roles?

Viola Davis: I draw on life, and the sexualized, messy, outwardly strong, inwardly vulnerable women that I know in my life. They’re anywhere from a size zero to a size twenty-four; they’re the women who are usually marginalized on TV, they don’t exist there, they don’t exist sometimes in the movies, but they do exist in life. And to me, that’s where you can find the expansiveness of stories. Because we’ve got real women out there and I think we want to see ourselves.
