Kerry Washington, Taraji P. Henson, and Hannah Simone Are Red Hot at the NAACP Awards

Of all of the red carpet events to take place year after year, none is more signficant than the NAACP Image Awards, which celebrates diversity in film and safeguards social equality within the industry. The powerful organization always draws a who’s who of Hollywood and this year was no exception. Red seemed to be a standout color of the evening with Kerry Washington in a lace spaghetti strap gown by Zuhair Murad; the queen bee of “ Empire,” Taraji P. Henson, in a sweeping strapless number by Edition by Georges Chakra; and Hannah Simone (aka the adorable Cece from “New Girl”) in a ruffled asymmetrical frock.

The glamour didn’t stop there as Gabrielle Union and Gugu Mbatha-Raw both opted pastels. The former was pretty in pink, while the latter rocked a lovely buttercup confection by Burberry Prorsum. As per usual the real showstopper of the evening was Angela Basset, whose deep V-neck and sheer panneled gown proved that at 56-years-young, she still knows how to make an entrance.
