Here’s something that has probably crossed your mind at one point or another while watching a celebrity awards show or a Lady Gaga music video: How the heck do these people pee while wearing insane, extravagant outfits? Do they have to take the entire thing off every time? Do they just not drink water for like six hours? Well, we have an answer for you. Or, at least, we know how Katy Perry specifically peed in that wild get-up she rocked to the Met Gala a couple of weeks ago.

If you needed a refresher, here is what Katy wore to the gala:

During a recent appearance on Ellen, Degeneres asked Katy to reveal her secret.

“There was a lot of self-control, practice, and GoGirls. Do you know those little contraptions where you then get to urinate standing up?”

Ellen responded as we did, with a bewildered, “No.”

Katy explains: “I’ve used them in several music videos because I always find myself in this predicament where I have a very extravagant, lavish, unrealistic, unpractical costume on.”

Hmm, so what is it exactly? It’s basically just a little silicone funnel that aims your pee away from your feet. Here’s a visual:

According to their website, if you might need such an object, you can wash it after every use and just keep it handy. They recommend it for people who play sports or travel frequently, or just for anyone who doesn’t like squatting when a sanitary bathroom is unavailable.
