Kate Middleton Wouldn’t Wear Anything From Jenny Packham—But Everyone Else Will

One of Kate Middleton’s favorite designer’s Jenny Packham showed her Fall/Winter 2015 collection on Tuesday. While I went to the show acting as the Duchess of Cambridge’s personal shopper, ready to send recommendations to Kensington Palace (because, for reals here, I have the number on speed dial), there wasn’t a single look I could see her wearing — but that’s not a bad thing. Jackets fully embellished in plastic shells; skirts and coats covered in paillettes; rompers, sheer, crop tops, mini dresses, low slung back shirts, and tight, form fitting dresses all paraded down to the runway. Middleton, who prefers romantic and flowing gowns for black tie events (I know this because we’re BFFs, not because I’m her style stalker), not overly fussy pieces with extreme detailing, wouldn’t wear these fashion-forward items.

Yet just because the royal most likely won’t be calling in any of Packham’s most recent offerings for her next tea with the Queen, doesn’t mean other people won’t. Already a red carpet favorite for celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Amy Poehler, and Kristin Bell, the fact that Packham is breaking out of creating for one archetypical client will only expand her roster of. There’s no doubt there are some dresses already on a flight to California to hit the Oscars red carpet.
