Since last September, Kanye West and pretty much every Kardashian-adjacent person on earth have been wearing Adidas track pants adorned with the word "Calabasas" on the leg. West himself has also been wearing 1980s-era Adidas sneakers that also feature gold foil lettering with the same California town-referencing text. And at West's Yeezy Season 5 fashion show in New York City last month, he unveiled even more Adidas x Calabasas pieces, and yet, though fans have been clamoring for any info on the new collab, Adidas and West have been been serving up nothing but radio silence. That is until now. Today, Adidas and Kanye West finally dropped pieces from the collection, which are available exclusively at yeezysupply.com.
In the lineup are the Adidas Powerphase sneakers that some have likened to Reebok Classics, despite the fact that the original Powerphase debuted at essentially the same time as the Reebok Workout back in the '80s. There's also a dad hat in the mix, similar to the one West and his wife Kim Kardashian have been spotted wearing in recent months. There are also some statement socks in the mix, because why not complete the look?
Additionally, images from a Calabasas-exclusive Zine have hit the web, which was shot by Dan Regan and which show the pieces in West's signature oversized fit on two young models, A$AP Nast (whose own Instagram is a masterclass in hoodies-and-sweats style) and Ganna Bogdan. But what might surprise people most is how affordable the collection (ed note: these prices are unconfirmed at time of publishing) is compared to previous Yeezy offerings. The sweatpants are $200 (expensive for Adidas sweats, but not for high-fashion sweatpants), the socks $25, and the hat at just $40. Long ago Kanye West seemed hellbent on giving his fans affordable luxury garments, and thus far this new Adidas x Calabasas collection is the closest he's gotten to realizing that vision.
