Kanye West on That Time No One Came to See His Collection

Kanye West (and, therefore, Kim Kardashian, womp) just got one step closer to world domination. West has been named one of Time’s 100 most influential people of the year, and was deemed high enough up on that list to receive his own cover. Other cover stars include ballerina Misty Copeland, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Bradley Cooper, and Jorge Ramos.

Penned by Canadian entrepreneur Elon Musk (each blurb written about a celebrity is written by a different celebrity), the brief profile about West (who’s been dubbed “The Boundary Breaker”) details the rapper’s “incredible tenacity,” his tendency to over-think everything, and his refusal to subscribe to false modesty (say WHAT?).

In the corresponding video, West discusses the “drops of truth” he expels each time he “literally” breaks the Internet, and his mission to clean up the “broken world” we were born into.

Sarcasm aside, he also recalls a fairly inspiring anecdote about his struggle to be taken seriously as a designer. After his debut runway show, no more than two editors came to re-see the collection.“This is great! Remember this moment,” said West, “‘cause it won’t always be like this. Embrace this moment where no one came to see the collection.” See where positive thinking can get you? On the cover of Time Magazine, sucka!

In addition to West, your faves Julianne Moore, Kevin Hart, Lorne Michaels, Taylor Swift, Emma Watson, Reese Witherspoon, Laverne Cox, Sarah Koenig, Amy Schumer, Alexander Wang, Audra McDonald, Chris Pratt, Diane von Furstenberg, Bjork, President Obama, and … Kim Kardashian made the list.

Best/most amusing of all? Kardashian’s bit is written by Martha effing Stewart, who calls out Mrs. West’s multi-million Twitter followers, her ability to exude “energy, sexuality, drama, determination, impetuousness and happiness,” and her “reportedly transgender parent.”

“Where does Kim go from here?” Stewart asks. Well… maybe the cover of Time’s 100 most influential people issue, 2016 addition. Alongside Kanye West, that is.
