You’ve probably heard the news that Ron Howard will be taking over as the director of the untitled Han Solo movie. And it turns out that a former Star Wars character has an idea for Howard. Yup, that character is Jar Jar Binks, who made an *anonymous* request to be the star of the Han Solo film via a Funny or Die video.

Of course, Jar Jar is *so* memorable from the Star Wars films he’s appeared in that his request seems like it would be pretty hard to turn down. We’re sure we can all agree on this, right?!

But first, ICYMI, the news of Howard taking over the film was just released the other day.

Howard will be replacing The Lego Movie’s Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who parted ways with Lucasfilm over creative differences. Miller and Lord had reportedly clashed with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy over the comedic nature of the Han Solo movie, reported Variety.

“At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago,” Kennedy said in a statement on StarWars.com. “With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie. Filming will resume the 10th of July.”

Howard, too, seems pleased with the decision.

So if comedy is what he’s going for, it makes sense that Jar Jar thinks he’d be perfect to not only be in the film, but to also be its star.

“If you really want to turn this movie around, you’ve got to get Jar Jar in there, and not just like a supporting role,” he “anonymously” said in his Funny or Die video request. “Maybe it’s a Jar Jar movie now.”

He’s so persuasive, how can anyone possibly turn him down…In any case, we can’t wait for the Han Solo film, currently due out May 25th, 2018 — not like we’re counting down the days or anything
