North West Channels Jackson Pollock for Kim Kardashian's Extravagant Birthday Present

Kim and Kanye West take the art of gift giving to a whole new extravagant level. Following only a few months of dating, Kardashian gave her then-boyfriend a Lamborghini and the year after, just hours after giving birth to the couple’s daughter, North West, she presented the rapper with a vintage iPod signed by Steve Wozniak (and hand-delivered by the Apple co-founder himself). As for Kanye, he has a particular taste for Hermès when it comes to his wife’s birthdays. Last year for Christmas, he presented the reality star with a Birkin bag that was hand painted by artist George Condo. And to follow up this unique and expensive present (rumor has it that the bag cost $40,000), West gave his wife a follow up purse. But this time, instead of commissioning a famous painter with works hanging in museums around the world, he set his 1-year-old up with some finger paints and told her to go to town.

“Kanye had a box [with an Hermes purse in it] and I opened it up and it was all painted really cool and on my computer was this message that said ‘Play’ and it was a video of my daughter sitting outside painting the purse,” Kardashian revealed to Us Weekly at her birthday party in Las Vegas over the weekend. “I had thought it was this new artist who had painted this purse [but] it was my daughter. It was amazing.”

If North can fool her mother — one third of the “First Family of Fashion” — into believing that her amateur artistic work is the real deal then it’s possible we have the next Jackson Pollock on our hands. Eh, probably not.
