I Owe It All To You - What Dirty Dancing Taught Us About Life & Style

If you ever need proof that kids are not that bright, and that showing them movies made for teens won't traumatize them, just try rewatching Dirty Dancing (I'll wait). The '80s classic, which was released 28 years ago today, is filled with all kinds of subtext you probably missed the first time around: The class tension between Jennifer Grey's well-to-do Baby and Patrick Swayze's working-class Johnny Castle, an illegal abortion, and wanton wallet theft in a family resort. This is a juicy plotline, all of which we missed because we cared only about Johnny and Baby, and the great mystery of whether they'd fall in love, and also land that lift (spolier alert: they do, and it is glorious).

In tribute to this iconic coming-of-age film, we present to you five of Baby's best looks, and what each one taught us about growing up, dancing, watermelons, and life.
