There are ways to jazz up the store-bought variety, but if canned cranberry sauce isn’t for you, this edition of “Tipline” shows how to make an easy homemade version for your holiday dinner.
By combining a bag of cranberries, orange juice, sugar, and cinnamon, you can make cranberry sauce at home in just a few minutes.
You can make this sauce a day in advance, giving you one less task to do on Thanksgiving Day. The detailed recipe is below:
Homemade Cranberry Sauce
1-12 ounce bag cranberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup white sugar
1 cup orange juice
1 cinnamon stick
1.) In a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, add cranberries, sugar and orange juice. Stir. Add cinnamon stick, and cook until the cranberries start to pop, about 10 minutes.
2.) Remove from heat and place sauce in a bowl. Let cool. Place in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools. Can be made a day in advance.
