Earlier this year we, very sadly, lost our beloved Agent Carter to the great TV graveyard in the sky. After much hype, and many Avengers tie-in, the show was canceled after two seasons — and omg, it ended on such a cliffhanger ugggghhhh.

Immediately after the show was canceled, there was talk of it moving to another network, or better yet, another streaming network. A movement to get Agent Carter handed over to Netflix was quickly started (since they’ve got a whole slew of other Marvel/Netflix shows already), but no matter how many times we tweeted about it, it didn’t happen. Netflix passed on the project, and for right now, it sure looks like Agent Carter is gone forever.

Talking at ABC’s TCA panel yesterday, the rad lady behind Peggy Carter, Hayley Atwell, admitted that Agent Carter is done — but it might not be done forever.

“It’s still a much-loved show for the people involved in the making of it, and we know it has a special place in the fans’ hearts,” she explained to the crowd. “And that’s something that I would be very happy to go back to, if the opportunity came. The great thing about Peggy is we know she lives a long life. I’m banking on when I’m in my 50s, saying, ‘Let’s see what Peggy’s up in this decade!'”

Avengers fans know that while Peggy and Steve Rogers (aka, Captain America) don’t get their one dance, but regardless, Peggy goes on to lead a long, and full life without him, like creating S.H.I.E.L.D. She dies during the latest Captain America movie, Civil War, but there’s still so much more of her life to explore — and there’s also always the chance she could pop up in ABC’s currently S.H.I.E.L.D. show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

So Peggy may be gone, but she is certainly not forgotten. While, Agent Carter lived in “one of those much-loved but little places … in the world of ABC” (Atwell’s words, not ours!!) she’ll forever hold a big place in our heart.
