Only a grinch wouldn't watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas before Christmas. Seriously, you'd have to really hate the holiday season-and redemption stories, and heartwarming feelings, and Whos from Whoville-to skip it. It's a must-stream, be it the1966 Boris Karloff-narrated cartoon or the 2000 live-action version starring Jim Carrey, and while you watch, you've got to snack on these Grinch Kranky Treats.

They're a bright green riff on classic Rice Krispie Treats, featuring the usual mix of marshmallows, butter and crisped rice cereal, amped up with a little green food coloring (about 8-9 drops will do the trick). Our video producer, Chelsea Lupkin, pitched the idea, breaking from filming to help us mold the Grinch's faces. "Shape it like a violin," she instructed.

Pro tip: Before shaping the treats, thoroughly spritz your hands with cooking spray, or rub them with a little vegetable oil. This will keep the marshmallow treats from sticking to your fingers.

As soon as they're molded, pop in the M&M eyes. Mini are just the right size, which you can usually find in the checkout section of the grocery store, if not in the baking section. (Don't fall for M&M's Baking Bits-those are full-size candies.)

Store-bought chocolate frosting-or homemade-placed in a piping bag with a No. 1 round tip is the trick to getting the Grinch's narrow, up-to-no-good smile just right. You could also use a resealable bag with the corner snipped, as long as the hole is super-small.

They go surprisingly well with our Grinch Jell-o Shots (and drinking game), provided you're over 21, of course.
