At Glam Cannes Gala, Bella Hadid Was 'In Heaven,' Eva Longoria Could 'Finally Eat'

“I’m in heaven,” quipped Bella Hadid as she arrived at the 24th amfAR gala at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes in a barely-there Ralph and Russo gown.

The younger Hadid sister giggled as she showed off the risky number that left little to the imagination. “We’re going to see if it stays on me for the rest of the night,” she joked. “I’m going to hopefully make it through the red carpet, have no mishaps happen, and I’m happy.”

She wasn’t the only one who was all smiles. The amfAR Gala that caps off the Cannes party circuit is known as the most decadent event of the film fest. “There is only one du-Cap, and Antibes is a very special place. Tonight is a magical evening and you feel like you’re amongst the elements. All of the arts converge here – fashion, music, art and film,” said Kenneth Cole, who is the chairman for amfAR since 2004.

Indeed, with so many celebrities present, it was hard to know where to look. A glowing Irina Shayk looked like she was floating down the white carpet in her floor-grazing, shimmery gown. The new mom later modeled a pair of Harry Winston earrings in the fashion show, marking her post-baby return to the runway.

Rita Ora arrived early, telling press she needed to rehearse one more time, as she was performing a new single for the first time. Joe Jonas, who was performing with his band DNCE looked noticeably calmer as he said he’s, “very very excited,” about the evening. Then his gaze turned in Hadid’s direction, who was expertly making her way across the carpet without exposing more than intended.

Marchesa co-founder and wife of Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman, arrived clasping hands with model Karolina Kurkova. Chapman joked that Weinstein had kept the auction catalogue away from her until the day of the event. “He has his credit cards ready,” she laughed. Kurkova, in a sheer Marchesa creation, revealed she was being put to work. “I’ll be auctioning some art. I’ll be in the fashion show. So I’ll be busy tonight. This is going to be my only time to be dressed up, but then it will be back to work, and help to raise a lot of money,” said Kurkova.

Eva Longoria, in Elie Saab, had a different reason for why she was so excited to attend. “It’s my last gown of the week. I can finally eat tonight!” she said, walking inside the cocktail hour. Longoria may have looked gorgeous, but proved the Cannes circuit can feel never ending. “I’m ready to go home. I’m exhausted. I’m going to eat. I have to be around all these models, so that’s fun…” she said with a quick laugh.

She would soon be joined at the Moët-Hennessy cocktail hour by beaming Film Fest jurors Jessica Chastain and Will Smith, best pals Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey McGuire, the evenings other performers Diana Ross and Nicki Minaj, and David Beckham. Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and the Hot Felon were in attendance as well, proving Cole’s point that the party crowd is a mélange of everyone possible.

As they headed inside, ready to dance the night away, the focus was singular. “Tonight we raise money,” declared Nicole Kidman. And that they did: Over 20 million euro for AIDS research in one evening.
