Katy Perry Wins Halloween in a Cheetos Costume

Cara Delevingne’s pepperoni suit has major competition because Katy Perry dressed up as a flaming hot Cheeto for Halloween. The singer showed up to Kate Hudson’s annual Halloween party in Los Angeles on Thursday night in an awesomely textured Cheetos suit, layered over neon-orange pants, a long sleeve shirt, and red high-top sneakers. Of course, she completed her flamin’ hot costume with orange nails that so perfectly carried her Cheetos bag purse (which bares an uncanny resemblance to Moschino’s fall 2014 junk-food inspired collection). The 30-year-old’s costume is a far cry from her lollipop top and blue hair era, but it’s not totally random. In an interview with Marie Claire last year, Perry admitted that Cheetos were her break-up vice. And not long ago, the singer munched on the dangerously cheesy snacks in her music video for “Dark Horse” featuring Juicy J. (Does this mean her rumored romance with Diplo is on the rocks?)
This isn’t the first time celebrities have taken to food for outfit inspiration. In 2012, Nicki Minaj dressed up as a popcorn box – with a red and white striped skirt and a bustier made of real popcorn – for a casual movie theatre outing in Japan. Lady Gaga attempted to pull off a steak tartare ensemble, designed by Franc Fernandez, at the 2014 Emmys. All in all, Katy Perry’s Halloween costume is pretty sweet; or dare we say it, spicy.
