Get Your Tissues Out! I Gave a Military Mom a Makeover for Veterans Day

You know those viral videos in which members of the military surprise their family members upon returning home? They’re moving and amazing and inevitably make most watchers cry. Well, for Veterans Day, I wanted to do something similar and give back.

First, I gave Sgt. Otilia Wilson, who’s been wearing a uniform for months on end, a makeover. Instead of her Army fatigues, I dressed her in a green wrap dress purchased from Marshalls and paired the piece with strappy Vince Camuto heels. She also had her hair and makeup professionally done, which she hadn’t been treated to since she attended prom.

But the surprises didn’t stop there! After she was all dolled up, I called her daughter and grandmother to the stage. The family members hadn’t seen each other in more than a year.
