Arya and Sansa Stark, otherwise known as Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, walked into a tattoo parlor earlier this week and emerged with matching tattoos. The Internet, thoroughly obsessed with HBO’s Game of Thrones, freaked out that these two actresses sealed their love in ink. But what was so precious to them that they were inspired to permanently engrave it on their forearms?

On Saturday afternoon, Williams attended the annual BAFTA Tea Party at The London in West Hollywood, Calif., where she proudly showed off her latest, and very permanent, accessory: a tiny “07.08.09” tatted on the 19-year-old’s left inner arm.

“It’s the 7th of August and not the 8th of July — because in the UK we put our dates the other way around,” the bubbly teenager tells Yahoo Beauty on the event’s red carpet. “It was the day I found out I got the part in Game of Thrones.”

The date is of equal importance to Turner, her co-star and, more significantly, friend. “She found out then as well but we didn’t know each other then so it’s quite a prominent date for both of us,” adds Williams. “It’s a day that both of our lives changed forever.”

Landing the role of Ayra Stark not only catapulted Williams into widespread stardom but also helped shape her identity as a young woman in the public eye. “Being in this industry, I’ve had to learn quite quickly the sort of person that I am because people always say ‘don’t change.’ And so to not change, you have to figure out the kind of girl who you want to be and how you want to be perceived by others,” she explains. “Playing Ayra has definitely really helped with that and been a massive inspiration for me and for a lot of girls around the world.”

Sadly, HBO has confirmed that Season 8 will be the final run for the beloved fantasy drama. And Williams has mixed feelings about that. “I’m both excited for the future and very nervous,” she admits. “Up until this point where there’s ever been a role that I have not landed and it’s been upsetting, we’ve had a safety blanket. But we still have another year of Thrones and there will be something still keeping my face current and spurring my career. With that coming to an end, it’s both exciting because there’s more opportunity for time to do other projects but also scary because maybe people won’t want me!”
