Gaga Wasn’t Wearing Gloves to Cover Up Her Engagement Ring

Sometimes women just like to wear gloves on the red carpet. (Amal Clooney comes to mind.) Other times it has more to do with obscuring one’s age. (See: Madonna, Karl Lagerfeld.) At last night’s Oscars, Gaga choose to wear her bright red gloves out of pure love. She worked with famed Paris-based designer Azzedine Alaia to create her ensemble, and part of his vision was the red leather gloves that were lined in silver. There was talk that she wanted to avoid any engagement ring talk or the dreaded mani cam, but alas her intentions were rooted in loyalty. “We wanted to honor the exact sketch,” said Brandon Maxwell, Gaga’s in-house fashion director.

Did you love the gloves? Those red numbers were custom made, but there is a similar pair made by Mr. Alaia available on FirstDibs.com for $475. If that doesn’t work for you, there’s also the more art house/costume versions available for less than $5 on amazon.com.
