Since then she has fronted a (record-breaking) 19 ad campaigns for Prada in addition to campaigns for Chanel, Balenciaga, and a plethora of others. Sasha has walked hundreds of catwalks throughout her career, but little do people know that she is also a talented illustrator. In fact, she still paints and draws in her home turned art studio in New York. She once said, “While the other girls were playing with dolls … I was playing with pencils,” in an interview with Teen Vogue.
Now, for the first time, Sasha has partnered up with cult-favorite London- and L.A.-bred denim brand Frame to launch an exclusive collection featuring Sasha’s original illustrations. Sasha’s beautiful artwork comes to life in the form of colorful, organic botanical embroideries juxtaposed with abstract female portraiture. The sketches were first created in a water-based ink and then were carefully and meticulously re-created through delicate embroideries on two particular styles of denim jeans and jackets.
The collaboration was a natural partnership between Sasha and Frame founders Erik Torstensson and Jens Grede, who have been friends with Sasha for more than a decade and have worked with her on Frame’s own ad campaigns. After admiring her model-off-duty work for so long, they can now use it to add a new dimension to their brand with this special collaboration.
The Frame and Sasha Pivovarova collection retails for $449 to $625 and is available now on frame-store.com. Click ahead to see the stunning artwork for yourself.
