Everyone Loves Hilary Duff’s Bathing Suit Designer

Hilary Duff posted a bikini selfie to Instagram on Sunday wearing a black bikini. While her toned abs are totally distracting, for those with advanced style senses, it’s the swimsuit that catches the eye instead. The black two-piece from Marysia not only looks great on the singer, it’s a favorite style amongst Hollywood’s top stars.

"Hey #moms #westillgotit #loveyourbod," Duff wrote alongside the mirror selfie. Being on vacation with her nearly 2-year-old son could be the reason for the confidence, but the bathing suit must also play a part as well seeing as she’s worn it so many times. Not only has she been spotted on the beach in the scallop edge suit, it’s also seen in her music video for “Chasing the Sun” as well.

Onscreen, Duff mixes and matches, wearing the bottom of the bathing suit but trading out the more unsupportive bandeau for a halter string bikini top. And while most designers would love brand continuity, Marysia’s designer, Marysia Dobrzanska Reeves, tells Yahoo Style she doesn’t mind. “Our customer is a style-savvy girl who chooses from our many options to fit her lifestyle and body best, thus making it her own Marysia Swim,” she says. “It’s happening more and more which was exactly my intention when designing.”

But Duff isn’t the only one to favor the scallop-style bikini and put her own twist on it. Stars including Rachel Bilson, Lupita Nyong’o, Kendra Wilkinson, blogger Aimee Song, and more wear Marysia styles on the regular, adding body jewelry and coverups, incorporating their unique sartorial tastes. And because of the large amount of influencers sporting (and pictured) in the swimsuit, the brand has seen a boost. “When Lupita Nyong’o wore our bikini, everyone took notice and further launched the popularity of our brand and in particular, the Antibes bikini,” she admits.

Because of the major influencer presence the style has, it’s inspired copycats from mass brands such as Victoria’s Secret and H&M at much cheaper prices (Marysia pieces are $130 and up each). “In a way it’s flattering because it confirms the success of our most popular style,” she says. With summer on the horizon, and with so many favorite faces (and bodies) baring the style, it’s sure to be on many more beaches in a mere few months.
