Evangeline Lilly Dresses in a Larger Than Life Skirt for 'The Squickerwonkers' Book Signing

You may know Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel in The Hobbit trilogy or as Kate in Lost; but if you weren’t already familiar with her sweet face, the ensemble Evangeline is repeatedly sporting to sign her first children’s book, The Squickerwonkers, is a surefire way you won’t forget who the 35-year-old actress gone author is. On Friday, the Canadian star wore a larger than life red and-white-checkered skirt that seems to be layered over black tulle (perhaps to give it that extra oomph). To top it off, the new novelist paired the voluminous bottom with a gray blazer, a white, red, and black hat, ankle boots, and a brush of red lipstick. Whether Evangeline’s outfit choice was an explicit effort to break free from her bikini-clad Lost days or whether it is merely a costume to make one of the book’s characters come to life, her look is eye-catching nonetheless. Gingham and plaid are on trend for fall, but Evangeline’s skirt suggests that bigger may not always be better.
