Eva Mendes is the New Face of Estee Lauder
Just last month Eva Mendes launched her own line of cosmetics. Circa, which ranges in price from $7 to $15, is available exclusively at Walgreens. The actress told Elle, “Growing up, I was from a very lower-middle class family, and I really got all my makeup and products from drugstores…But the quality of the products just wasn’t there.“ The time she’d spent with professional makeup artists, both on set and while working for brands like Revlon, had armed her with the info she needed to launch a professional-grade collection of makeup. Skincare, however, is a whole different story.
Mendes recently told Redbook magazine, “For day, I prefer Estée Lauder Hydrationist Moisture Creme. It’s thick and wears well under makeup.” And it turns out they prefer her right back. Estee Lauder’s just named Mendes the face of their New Dimension Skincare, launching this July. In a statement, the brand’s president, Jane Hertzmark Hudis, said, “I’m thrilled to welcome Eva to the Estée Lauder family…As an actress, businesswoman and now a mother, Eva understands the power of transformation that is at the heart of our new approach to beauty. Eva’s warmth and approachability will help us share this incredible story with women around the world.”
As for Mendes, she said, “Since my teenage years, I have always admired Estée Lauder, the woman and the brand. I’m excited to represent New Dimension skincare because I can relate personally to what it stands for - the power we have as women to take control and transform our own beauty.”
The public’s been hungry for Mendes since she gave birth to a baby with Ryan Gosling last summer. And she tells WWD that since giving birth, “Everything has more weight: what companies I align myself with, who I’m promoting and how I’m promoting it. Everything goes back to whether I will embarrass my little girl at some point.” Needless to say, there’s nothing embarrassing about aligning oneself with Estee Lauder.
