Emma Watson Is the Off the Shoulder Look's Biggest Proponent

Emma Watson will not be hanging up her off-the-shoulder clothes anytime soon. While the look has seemingly reached the end of a trend life span, on Wednesday night the actress stunned in a white Burberry dress with the revealing silhouette for the premiere of The Circle during the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, proving that a good look never goes out of style.

The floor length gown fit into her sustainable style commitment as it was made of organic silk. The tight fit and sleeves stretched across her chest created a clean look while the slightly flared skirt with a thigh-high slit added a bit of femininity. A loose updo showed off her clavicle, and a maroon velvet clutch added a pop of color to the ensemble.

For the after-party, Watson changed her outfit. Her tight at the top but slinky at the bottom black jumpsuit had…you guessed…off the shoulder sleeves. In fact, they were the same exact style sleeves as the Burberry dress.

And just the day before while promoting the film in San Francisco, she opted for a red ensemble from Gabriela Hearst with wide-leg flare pants and a spandex OTS top.

She must really like that look. The proof is in the pudding: she wore a bespoke Emilia Wickstead gown with similar sleeves to the London premiere of Beauty and the Beast in February.

However, her off-the-shoulder style isn’t always the same though. At the 2016 Met Gala, she wore a sweetheart style off-the-shoulder black and white top with black trousers and an attached skirt with a long train created by Calvin Klein and eco-fashion activist Livia Firth.

The dress she wore Wednesday night was very similar to one she wore to the premiere of Gravity in 2013, just longer.

And in 2014, she gave the style a fun twist with sheer sleeves and a fuzzy trim for the BAFTA Los Angeles Jaguar Britannia Awards.

It all dates back to 2002, when Watson debuted her love of off-the-shoulder at the premiere of Scooby Doo, rocking a white crinkled long sleeve shirt and a floral skirt. If the past is any indication, Watson will be wearing off the shoulder styles till the end of time.
