Redhead Emma Stone looked red-hot on Thursday night, wearing a deep maroon gown to the gala screening of her film La La Land in London. And while the outfit was seemingly simple, we’ve never seen her look more glamorous.
The actress’ old-Hollywood ensemble centered on a silk oxblood slip dress, with a V-neck and spaghetti straps, designed by the Row. There were no patterns or designs on the frock, just a basic seam down the middle. But its simplicity made the dress that much more powerful; its smooth appearance seemed to envelope her, providing an air of quiet confidence and luxury — a side of Stone that is usually overpowered by her quirky personality and her typically awkward roles.
She wore matching maroon lipstick and very simple makeup on the rest of her freckled face, and that, along with simple strappy heels, allowed the dress to really shine.
Even her hair looked a little darker than usual, her red locks worn 1930s glam in loose curls, pinned back on one side.
Stone is already winning awards for her role in the movie musical — she won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical on Sunday — and while we were blown away by her performance, it’s this look that really takes the red velvet cake.
