Donald Trump Finally Learned How to Tie a Tie

From Town & Country

Donald Trump has a complicated history with ties, and not just because of his eponymous neckwear collection.

The president tends to wear his ties much too long, a style faux pas I investigated back in January. Trump has a unique way of tying his ties, making the front part significantly longer than the shorter tail. The tail is so short, in fact, that the president has been using scotch tape to keep it in place.

Now the loop on the back of a men's tie is designed for exactly this purpose, but Trump's trying strategy results in a tail that's too short to reach the loop. Here, take a look at the president- and vice president-elect arriving in Indianapolis back in December:

But maybe there's hope for him yet. When he stepped off Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base after returning from Mar-a-Lago on Sunday, there was something different about his appearance.

Look more closely - the short end of his Italo Ferretti tie is tucked neatly into its loop! (The tie was produced specifically for Trump by the looks of its label, and a brand spokesman confirmed that the Silvi, Italy-based company has "made many ties for him.")

The president followed T&C's advice and buttoned his jacket when he addressed a joint session of Congress last month, and addressing the excessive length of his tie may just be the next item on his style upgrade checklist.
