This dog realizing he can stand in the pool is awkwardly precious

We all can remember being kids, realizing with every passing summer that we’re getting closer and closer to being able to stand in the shallow end of the pool comfortably. One pup just had that realization, too, and luckily for us, his adorable reaction was caught on video.

Cody the two-year-old Labrador was treading water in the pool when it suddenly occurred to him that he can rest his hind paws on the pool’s floor in the shallow end.

His human, Tina Conrad, managed to catch his reaction on video while giggling in the background:

THE CUTEST. Though he looks a little stressed in this video, Tina told Huffington Post that her pup adores the water. “Cody loves me to throw his pool toy to the pool so he can fetch it,” she said. “He can jump from the diving board on command and shake the water off on command, too.”

If you want more of Cody, he’s steadily becoming Instagram famous, because look at that cute face!

Luckily for Cody, there’s a whooooole summer ahead for him to stand up in the pool like the cool Lab he is.
