Given the tumultuous sociopolitical times we’re living in today, more and more people are becoming politically conscious. In fact, it’s not just people but brands too who are taking a stand. Take, for example, Diesel’s new campaign: “Make Love Not Walls.”

Following the inauguration of President Donald Trump, there has been a bit of instability with marches and protests taking place across the world. What’s more, the President has attempted to enforce a travel ban of Muslims, something that is currently up against legal obstacles, and is forging ahead with the building of his wall.

In response, however, one fashion brand is fighting back, showing that love in all its forms trumps hate.

Diesel’s latest fashion campaign, “Make Love Not Walls,” is a direct rebuttal to the current political climate of discrimination and separation, and instead focuses on creating unity and sharing love.

As The Huffington Post report, Diesel have said the campaign comes at “a crucial historical moment, where hate, walls and fear seem to prevail.” Directed by David LaChapelle, the accompanying video delivers a bold and impressive statement, and features the likes of ballet dancer Sergei Polunin, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Raja, and transgender models Laith de la Cruz and Octavia Hamlett.

In a press release, artistic director Nicola Formichetti said:

“At Diesel, we have a strong position against hate and more than ever we want the world to know that. Love and togetherness is crucial in creating a society we all want to live in, and the future we all deserve.”

We absolutely love everything about Diesel’s campaign. The message of putting aside and embracing each other’s differences is so important and so empowering. It’s incredible to see a brand taking a stand for what matters, and we needed this boost of positivity and joy in our lives. We need messages of love and unity like this more than ever before.
