Designer Camille Walala’s Design Guide to London

East London is not only Camille Walala’s home—it’s also her canvas. Inspired by Southern Africa’s Ndebele tribe, the 1980s Memphis design movement, and the optical artist Victor Vasarely (“without taking myself too seriously,” she says), the French-born, 40-year-old artist and textile designer has been brightening up the concrete jungle of London by covering its buildings, pop-ups, and playgrounds with her colorful, geometric “tribal pop” prints. Here, Walala shares with us her favorite design shops in her home city.
