#Daydream: Pfeiffer Beach, Big Sur, California

We know how it is. You’re stuck at your desk and the day seems to be going on forever. Your mind starts to wander — at first to “anywhere but here,” but then to exotic, faraway lands where your everyday problems and stress melt in the presence of true paradise. You want to go to there, and we want to go with you. Every day at 3 p.m. Eastern, we’ll send you a picture of the place we at Yahoo Travel are daydreaming about so we can all take that mental vacation together. Let’s go to…

…Pfeiffer Beach!!! Big Sur is one of our favorite places to dream about in California. And we’re not alone! This rugged stretch of coast – with its many scenic beaches and cliffs – has served as a muse to many artists and writers over the years. Jack Kerouac, Henry Miller, Edward Weston, and Hunter S. Thompson have all been inspired to create after visiting this popular coastal area. Even the Red Hot Chili Peppers have mentioned Big Sur in a song or two. Can you blame them? With the stunning coastal views on one side of Highway 1 and the gorgeous Santa Lucia Mountains on the other, it’s incredibly peaceful and totally breathtaking. We suggest you road trip with a friend so you can take turns watching the scenery. Be sure to make a few stops along the way, so you can get a close-up view of the sights at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Bixby Creek Bridge, Point Sur Lighthouse, McWay Falls, Sand Dollar Beach, and Jade Cove.
