Dakota Johnson & Sam Taylor-Johnson Reunite at the Gucci Resort Show

It’s a dawn of a new era at Gucci, and the brand’s recently appointed creative director Alessandro Michele made his presence felt on Thursday afternoon with a lavish Resort runway show in New York. Guests including director Gia Coppola, actress Dakota Johnson, and designers Joseph Altuzarra and Alexander Wang filed into a gallery space on Manhattan’s West side for a 62-look spectacular that was replete with beanies, cat-eye glasses, baseball jackets, floral quilted coats, tweed skirt suits, glittery gladiator sandals, and lots of sheer rompers and dresses. The youthfully romantic rebel vibe was underscored by the embroidered messages that adorned the clothing, “Aveugle par l amour,” or “Love is Blind,” which appeared more than once.

Of course the fashion elite in attendance were reeling afterward. “I thought it was very beautiful, very lush, and colorful,” said model/singer Karen Elson who wore a flowing red dress and flowers in her hair just like girls who walked down the runway. Elson’s front row perch was wedged in between Fifty Shades of Grey power duo, Dakota Johnson and director Sam Taylor-Johnson. While Dakota did not officially speak to the press, we did hear the actress lamenting to the director about her new blunt bob. “Aaron really likes your hair,” Taylor-Johnson said encouragingly (is a director’s work never done?), who attended with her husband, Aaron Johnson. As for the clothes? “I thought it was really exquisite and very beautiful,” Taylor-Johnson told Yahoo Style. “I loved the ‘70s edge on everything. That’s definitely the era that I’m into.”
