One of the most surprising revelations to come from American Horror Story's PaleyFest panel had nothing to do with the series itself—instead, it came when Cuba Gooding Jr. lifted up his costar Sarah Paulson's dress as the actress stood to greet Kathy Bates.

In a clip of the incident posted to social media, Paulson is seen standing and waiting to greet Bates as she joined the other cast members onstage. Gooding, who was seated next to Paulson, grabs the hem of her dress and begins to lift up her skirt as she is hugging Bates—while appearing to try to peek under her dress. When Paulson realizes what is going on, she seemingly shrieks and turns away before Gooding can expose her any further. According to reports, Paulson also slapped away Gooding's hand earlier when he went to pull at her dress as she took her seat next to him onstage. Photographs captured the incredibly awkward and strange encounter.

The audience can be heard laughing at the interaction—and Paulson herself appears to laugh it off—but the Internet had a completely different reaction to Gooding's bizarre move. Twitter erupted following the incident, with several users calling him "gross," "disrespectful," "disgusting," and "a creep". One tweet read: "How would @cubagoodingjr react if a man walked up to his daughter, Piper, and lifted her dress up behind her back."

Gooding and Paulson recently starred together in both American Horror Story: Roanoke and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. There have been no reports of bad blood between the two actors, which makes the encounter all the more odd and uncomfortable. Even if Gooding meant it as a joke between friends, such an exposing move without consent is never ever OK.
