Trans* issues are currently at the forefront of pop-culture, especially with Caitlyn Jenner’s recent debut on the cover of Vanity Fair. Throughout this whole process, Jenner has emphasized how she hopes to help the trans community through her very public position, and the fruits of that journey continue to emerge.
Yesterday, musician Courtney Love posted an image of her 6-year old niece Viv, who is gender non-conforming. The young girl looked very cool, in her little jacket and bow-tie in one image, and being embraced by her proud aunt, wearing a hoodie and backwards baseball cap in another.
Viv, who strongly resembles Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, another gender non-conforming young person, seems to be part of the youngest members of our society who will get to experience life in a very different way than people like Jenner did. Instead of growing up having to hide their feelings of inadequacy, they get to vocalize those feelings, and experience life as they see fit, with the love and support of parents and loved ones. Perhaps the future will be in good hands after all.
