Coachella Doesn’t Want Your Selfie Sticks

Even Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner will have to leave their selfie sticks at home if they head to Coachella. Photo: Pacific Coast News

Next month at Coachella, expect to see selfies taken from a bit closer-up.

According to its website’s FAQ (via Brooklyn Vegan), the massively popular West Coast music festival has banned the use of selfie sticks and ‘narsisstics’—those handy yet obnoxious little instruments, beloved by fathers everywhere, that allow one to take photos at a distance—from its hallowed, fringe-filled grounds. Following suit, Chicago’s Lollapalooza has forbidden them, too.

And for those of you who are like, ‘Whatever, I’ll just strap my iPhone to my personal drone and capture my Coachella ‘15 experience/outfits from above!’—not so fast: drones and remote control aircrafts won’t fly in Indio either… literally.

So what’s a narcissistic concert-goer to do? Well, archaic as it seems, you might actually have to verbally engage with someone you don’t know in order to capture a group photo without cropping out your BFF’s feather headdress. I know: UGH. Alternatively, you could just get really crafty with your camera’s self-timer settings.

These are desperate time, people. Desperate. Times.
