Christie Brinkley Thanks Gap for Featuring a 63-Year-Old Woman on a Billboard

Christie Brinkley already stands tall at 5′ 9″ — her height being just one of the many factors that skyrocketed her to model superstardom in the ’90s — but thanks to Gap, she’s now larger than life.

Appearing in the San Francisco, Calif.-based brand’s summer campaign, the 63-year-old wears a white long-sleeve shirt with mid-rise jeans and a brown belt. Brinkley’s just one of the ad’s stars, including Priyanka Chopra, Alek Wek, Wiz Khalifa, and more, and was chosen to appear on a billboard in New York City’s Times Square.

Upon seeing herself on the massive poster in one of the most foot-trafficked tourist spots in the world, Brinkley snapped a picture and shared it on Instagram.

“Dear Gap, As the song goes …Now I LITERALLY feel 10’Tall!” she shared in the caption. “Thank you for including a woman in her 60’s in your ad campaign! I love that you have ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT DIVERSITY in every way.” She went on to include lyrics from the 1966 Marvin Gaye hit “Sunny,” which participants in the spot sang along to in a short film by British Vogue editor in chief Edward Enninful.

Brinkley, who was one of the original supers , has witnessed a career resurgence in the past few months. She even posed in a bikini for Sports Illustrated with her daughters.

“It’s wonderful that my industry is embracing all forms of diversity in beauty and that is now also including breaking that ageism barrier that we have allowed women in America to be defined by,” she told WWD about recent jobs she’s gotten thanks to the shifting environment. “They’ve been almost like prisoners of these rules that are supposed to apply to women over 30. It’s so great to see that changing as well.”
