Christian Louboutin Wants You to Wear New $90 Signature Red Lipstick Around Your Neck

Christian Louboutin’s name is synonymous with a certain shade of red. The vivid scarlet first graced the bottom of his shoes, last year, it turned into a nail polish, and now, it’s a lipstick.
The iconic French shoe brand has launched its first color cosmetics collection, 38 different lipsticks inspired by a host of legendary woman, starting with the ever-powerful and beautiful Queen Nefertiti of Egypt. The colors range from silky satin to sheer voile to velvet matte, and like Louboutin’s shoes and nail lacquers, look more like objets d’art at first glance.
They’re black, silver, and gold, and won’t be hiding at the bottom of your makeup bag. Louboutin, who set out to make lipsticks for “an accomplished woman,” was inspired by Middle Eastern pendants, and designed his cosmetics to be worn around the neck, as an earring, or as a more creative belt-loop accouterment.

With a $90 price tag, they’re not the most inexpensive option on the counter. But being able to match your soles to your nails to your lips is about as ladylike as one can get. Plus, “Loubie lips” has such a good ring to it.
