Chip Gaines has been hard at work on his upcoming book, Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff. The Fixer Upper star has also been busy promoting it (or just procrastinating?) on social media.

But now, he's finally making things official by picking his book cover after an online vote. Chip had fans weigh in on three finalists for the cover on Magnolia's Instagram.
Chip and Joanna got fans excited with a miniature "drum roll" of sorts:

And then, they revealed the choice, which fans actually voted against, Chip admitted. He told the Today show Tuesday morning that the one he ended up picking "lost by, like, a huge margin."

Chip noted that even though the cover lost, he felt it was the best refection of who he really is:
"But it was one of those times where I said, 'You know, I'm writing a book, I really wanted it to be about me and the expression that I wanted to capture,' and that was one of these sort of ad-lib moments that happen at the farm. It just happened at the blink of an eye, and of all the photos, all the staged photos and the big set photos, that one kept jumping off the page to me."
According to a press release, the book, which comes out in October and is available for pre-order on Amazon, details "some of his craziest antics and the lessons learned along the way." Before he hit the big time on HGTV, Chip was a serial entrepreneur who kept trying-and failing-at new ventures. So the book will detail all the "stupid stuff" that helped him get where he is today. (But perhaps it won't talk about his controversial new man bun.)
