Channing Tatum Can Vogue Better Than Madonna

Channing Tatum’s such a good dancer he made Step Up, a really bad movie, into one of the biggest franchises, and got Magic Mike, a film about male strippers, a sequel.

To mark this impressive feat, and Magic Mike XXL’s release on Wednesday, Tatum (no one calls him Channing) appears on the cover of Vanity Fair’s August issue. The editorial, shot by Annie Liebovitz, shows off the star’s athleticism, having him climb up lamp posts on the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank, Calif., and keep his hunky body hoisted in the air using just his burly biceps.

But the best part has to be a behind-the-scenes video of Tatum breaking it down. In 30 seconds flat, he makes some of the cheesiest dance moves of all time — the running man, shopping cart, robot, and more — actually sexy. His Voguing even rivals Madonna’s. “I started dancing at Joy, a nightclub in Tampa,” he said. “The group was called Male Encounter.”

And if this looping GIF, a magazine cover, and multiple blockbusters wasn’t enough Tatum busting a move for a lifetime, there’s still a chance this isn’t his last hurrah. “Well, we’re going to start a [Magic Mike] show in Vegas, and I’ll never say never,” he revealed. “I wouldn’t mind going out there and doing it one more time. Or maybe twice. But, you know, every time I’ve put on a thong and am getting ready to walk onstage again, I’m like, ‘Why do I want to do this?’ It’s very uncomfortable to be in a thong in front of a thousand people.”

Here’s hoping!
