Chanel Turns Bergdorf Goodman Into the World’s Chicest Locker Rooms

One of the world’s greatest shopping meccas – Bergdorf Goodman – was transformed into a sports club courtesy of Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld on Thursday. Though the creative director was not physically on hand to oversee the installation, he was surely there in spirit. The department store’s famed floor – 5F – was stripped of its usual designer racks and replaced with iron gates and gym lockers.

Of course, the whole set up is a riff off Lagerfeld’s super sporty fall collection in which he showed artfully ripped sweats and sneakers alongside the brand’s trademark tweed offerings. Barbells, bench presses, quilted handbags, and head-banded mannequins decked out in ready-to-wear ensembles completed designer’s athletic vision, which pays homage to the “Coco Coach” campaign that he also photographed. Should you have missed one too many appointments with your trainer and are too lazy venture inside, don’t fret. The Bergdorf windows mimic the upstairs display. Werk!
