Can You DIY Gucci’s New Collection?

“There’s a lot of power behind logos. They represent beauty and greatness and a certain lifestyle,” said Trevor Andrew to WWD, and here’s why it matters: Andrew is otherwise known as GucciGhost, the pro skater turned graffiti artist whose riff on Gucci’s logo turned into a full on partnership today on their runway.

The pieces he helped create—a midi-skirt, a faux fur coat, and varsity bomber jackets—were cool, and fun, and easy to wear.

For the fashion daredevils (and those disappointed that Gucci’s not on the much-hyped Buy Now Wear Now schedule), they’re also easy to make.

Check out Look Seven, an ingenious twist on Gucci’s Logo Shopper with GucciGhost’s cool lettering that spells REAL across the front. If you’re tired of your current shopper (priced at $2500, available in black and red) or can find a reasonable facsimile, grab some fabric paint, practice your best Trouble Andrew lettering, and scrawl FAKE on the bag. It may not get Alessandro Michele’s stamp of approval, but we bet Tyler Joe will take your street style photo in front of Colette.

Look 22 works, too: a black chevron quilted bag comes in every price point (even Steve Madden’s), so scrawling dashes and stars across the front with your favorite paint pens ($6.49 at Michael’s) isn’t such a stretch.

There’s one more way to get a piece of Gucci Fall 2016 before fall 2016 actually happens: stalk the GucciGhost website. There’s a bomber jacket coming soon that’s just $200. It may be less money than one of the coveted Gucci ones out now, but in fashion street cred, it’s pretty much priceless.
